Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday morning spoke by phone with the father of Naweed the child who had been kidnapped in Farah Province and freed on Tuesday November 15, a statement from presidential press office said, adding the President expressed his delight over releasing of Naweed and thanked for the efforts of the Defense and Security forces and special attention of the governor of Farah province.
President Ghani said that as soon as he found out about the kidnapping of the child, he directed the civil-military officials of Farah province to utilize all the available resources to have him freed soundly.
The President said that the kidnappers who are now in government’s detention will be prosecuted publicly and fairly in accordance with the country’s applicable laws.
“The President underscored that it is the duty of the government to protect the properties and lives of the people, and those who threaten the lives of our compatriots and resort to such brutal acts cannot escape the claws of the law and that they will be dealt seriously,” the statement added as quoted the president. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani instructed Director General of the Administrative Office of the President Abdul Salaam Rahimi to have the child transferred to Kabul for medical treatment.
The President said that the national directorate of security and the anti-crime forces that made the efforts to free Naweed will be commended, the statement concluded.
