Environment Pollution Engulfs Badakhshan

Kabul (BNA) Pollution has not only engulfed the capital Kabul but also other provinces of the country, particularly Badakhshan, where various types of diseases seriously threaten its residents.
Ghulam Nabi Sarferaz, Head of Badakhshan Environment Protection said that the environment situation of the province is concerning, where was one of the cleanest provinces of the country ten years ago.
But now, due to lack of people awareness, paying less attention to debris arrangement and density of population, the environmental pollution has considerably increased, Sarferaz further said.
We cannot prevent air pollution in the province due to inadequate personnel, Sarferaz said, adding the people cooperation and other concerned organs are needed, otherwise, a humanitarian disaster will happen, Sarferaz went on to say.
The government in-charges cannot lonely clean the cities unless the people take part in this regard, Sarferaz continued. There should be awareness programs offered through schools and mosques and environmental proposals presented in provincial sessions to prevent air pollution, he pointed out.
On cooperation of greenery department of Badakhshan, Sarferaz said our personnel works from 7:00am to 4:00pm every day in different precincts with limited possibilities.
Therefore, to protect the environment, the related organizations should start working on different fields and jointly step up, he added.
In fact, one of the greatest problems that the world is facing today is that of environmental pollution, increasing with each passing year and causing grave and irreparable damages to the earth.
Air pollution is by far the most harmful form of pollution in our environment. Air pollution is cause by the injurious smoke emitted by cars, buses, trucks, trains and factories, namely sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides.
This is while that lack of sound urbanization culture, inattention to environmental situation and territorial limitation are among the problems which should be jointly worked on in cooperation with ministry of labor and social affairs, police HQ and traffic department and everyone performs his/her responsibility in the respect.
