Kandahar Police Arrest Illegal Pakistani Workers

Tuesday August 30, 2016

Kabul (BNA) In the last few days, Kandahar police started arrest of dozens Pakistani nationals who lacked legal permits. So far 150 people, who are residents of Panjab, have been arrested due to above reason and deported them to Pakistani side. The Afghan police has launched this program to restore security and would continue until the sweeping of the last Pakistani nationals. Hereafter foreign nationals lacking legal documents would not be allowed to arrive and work in Afghanistan. According to Afghanistan labor law, only those foreign national who own official permit of the Afghan government would be allowed to work here. Some local traders and other people, who had employed Pakistani nationals, are not satisfied with police operation. Uncontrolled borders with neighboring countries have paved the way for arrival of numerous foreign nationals including Pakistanis. These workers have affected the labor markets and restricted employment opportunities for the Afghan people.
These workers are accepted in those works that the local workers manage to perform them very well. Priority is given in most foreign companies and organizations to foreign nationals even the security guards of these bodies, hotel and restaurants workers and masons are employed from foreign citizens. Most Pakistani road contraction companies have brought their workers from Pakistan and don’t actually employ local workers. These foreign nationals are involved in banking, road building, electricity, private TVs, airlines, security and hospitals. At present, thousands Afghans eligible but unemployed workers are suffering of immigration outside or poverty and unemployment inside the country. After security, unemployment as the biggest and urgent problem that has caused large number of able population to sustain potential risks and travel to European territories through illegal and dangerous ways in the hope of employment opportunities. People want the NUG to pave the way of employment for youth and remove the need for employment of foreign workers. Occupation of domestic labor markets by foreign workers and laborers is never justifiable for the Afghan people and arrival and employment of low quality and un-expertise foreign nationals should be immediately stopped in Afghanistan.
