Kabul (BNA) The holy month of Ramadan is month of blessing and benevolence.
In this month like other Muslims of the world, the pious Muslims of Afghanistan abbey and worship at the court of Allah the Almighty and fast. At the end days of the month of Ramadan, people have some traditions, like organizing marriage, taking Eidi to the girl’s family, cleaning their houses or buying of new house equipment. Tamanna a lady who was involved in preparation for Eid, in an interview with The Kabul Times, said “Prior to advent of Eid, the Afghan people try to clean their houses, wash clothes or carpets, clean homes or paint them, arrange their house equipment or buy new one”. Salma another lady who was taking Eidi, said at the end of Ramadan people taking preparation to provide Eidi and present it to the girl family. This is one of the old traditions among our people.
She added according to their economic afford, they try to prepare Eidi that includes a set of cloth, jewelries, Henna, cake, cookies, fresh and dried fruits etc. then invite a number of close female relatives to take all these materials to the bride’s house. We also plan to organize marriage on 27th of Ramadan and will organize wedding party after Eid. Mokhtar another citizen shopping for Eid said usually at the end of Ramadan before Eid people shop their essential materials. But unfortunately, this year the prices of food and fruits have increased 50 percent, but no change on prices of cake, cookies, candy, sweets, simian etc. most families don’t afford to buy these materials. Haji Ahmad one of food dealers said this year there is no change in prices of cake, cookies, candy etc but the dried fruits price has increased. As one kg Pea is sold Afs 130, one kg green raisin is cold Afs 200, one kg high quality domestic Pistachio is supplied Afs 700, one kg Tashqorghani almond is supplied Afs 750, one kg high quality green raisins is sold Afs 500 and so on.
