Kabul (BNA) The Afghan infants and children celebrate World Children Day while they are sustaining grave and intolerable problems.
BNA analyst commenting on the issue writes June 1 is world Children’s Day. The Afghan infants and children celebrate the day to express their conformity and solidarity to the world children while suffering from poverty, insecurity, health problems and most of them have no access to education and school. However, they are hopeful, believe in future, and consider this day as an opportunity for settling their problems. While using modern technology, education, training and recreation are the essential and undeniable rights of children, unfortunately, the major part of children are alien and deprive of them. In contrary the Afghan children are suffering from poverty, starvation, illiteracy, forced works, discrimination, lack of education facilities and other grave social problems that the Afghan innocent children have to fight against.
Opposition armed groups against all international standards and Islamic instructions abuse children in fighting, suicide attacks, dissemination of violence and extremism. The figures released by credible international organizations indicate that terrorist groups like Taliban, Daesh and Al – Qaeda who operate in Afghanistan recruiting children use them in battlefronts. The Afghan security organs have repeatedly identified children and teenagers who have assigned by those notorious groups to carry out suicide attacks and other terrorist activities. They use children and civilians as human shield in war against Afghan security forces. If the children in remote, insecure and places where are under the influence of terrorist groups experiencing the problems, the children living in cities and other parts of the country have their own problems.
Although, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has provided the ground for the education of children and established some facilities for them but the measures are not sufficient for solving the gave problems the children suffering. Today, the infants and children are suffering from social vulnerabilities, forced working and as militants in battlefields that hurts the conscience of every man and woman. In existence of family and social violence, lack of food, illiteracy and insecurity problems what can expect from the future of children in the country?
The figures released by official sources indicate that almost one million children are living in families who are in danger of addiction to narcotic drugs. Ministry of Public Health says annually, 45% of children under 5 due to unhealthy and insufficient food and curable diseased lose their lives. Approximately, three million children due to insecurity and social hideous traditions deprive of attending school and the number of vulnerable children in the country counted about 4 million. What have mentioned above, is a tiny part of problem that Afghan children suffering. To celebrate the Children’s World Day in better situation in the coming years it has required to take effective and practical measures and plan to meet at least the basic and essential rights of children. The state authorities, security, social, and education organs, religious scholars especially Imams of the mosques, teachers, elders can be the good sources for insuring the children’s rights in the community. Those are their religious and human obligations should meet.
