3 Million Afs. Provided To Kunduz War Victims

Monday, November 16, 2015

Kabul (BNA) In the series of aids to the war affected people in northern province of Kunduz, a company Northern Afghanistan Logistic Services (NALS) provided some three million Afghanis to be distributed to the war-stricken citizens, an official said the other day.
Government minister on disasters affairs, Eng. Wais Ahmad Barmak told reporters that the company had assisted up to 3 million Afghanis to the war victims in the northern province of Kunduz, where he said the aid had been received by his office through the national committee on counter-disasters from the company’s representative, Ismael Danesh.
The money is expected to be transferred through a banking service to the province, where it is expected to be spent in providing some goods like foodstuff and other needed essentials.
Ismael Danesh, the company’s representative also confirmed the assistance and said his company had tried best to cooperate with needy people and provide services to the society.
Minister Barmak also quoted the national committee on disasters as saying up to 21,000 people around the country (Badakhshan, Takhar, Kabul, Baghlan, Kapisa, Parwan, Panjshir, Samangan, Balkh and Kunduz), have been displaced by war. “Up to 80 percent of the Kunduz displaced people have been helped return home, with three thousand people are now under assistance from WFP UNICEF, IRCS, NGOs and other aid organizations.”
Under the government’s instruction, the country’s central bank—Da Afghanistan Bank has to open an account to invite the people at home and overseas for collecting money for the disasters’ suffered and internally displaced peoples (IDPs) in the country.
In the future, best endeavors would be made to reduce the natural disasters threats through awareness in the remote areas, such as villages and mountain slopes and hillsides, where the people are living.
