24 October ‘United Nations Day’

Kabul (BNA) United Nations’ Charter which is recognized as the structure of this organization has been established in the US on 26 June 1945 and officially came into being.
At the beginning of the charter it is said that the UN member states should jointly make effort in protection of future generations against wars which cause human disaster. As well as, it is added that the member states should jointly work in implementation of male and female equal rights, equality among the nations, and respect to the international commitments to improve the nations in social and economic affairs. Restoring peace, worldwide security, joint actions against threats, stopping any kinds of offensives, solving international disputes through peaceful ways based on intergovernmental laws and justice are the main aims of this organization.
To create international cooperation in solving global issues, respect to human rights and freedom to all without any kinds of discrimination such as sectarian, racial, linguistic, etc. are among the other aims of the organization. It is mentioned in the charter that the member states should prevent threating each other or using force against the member states national independence. This is also stated in the charter that based on its regulations; UN is not allowed to interfere in domestic affairs of the member states. Now, that over seventy years have been passed of the UN establishment day, this day is rarely celebrated among the UN member states. In his address on 24 October 1997, the UN Secretary General said, his organization won’t spare any efforts in ensuring equality among the nations, decreasing poverty rate and protection of the human rights. Therefore, the Afghans in their turn are grateful of the UN assistances over the past three decades as the organization is now striving to restore peace, stability and strengthen democracy in the country.
