Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has called upon rich people including businessmen and industrialists to help with the needy people.
He made the remarks in a message to mark the Red Crescent Week, here yesterday.
In a meeting held here to mark the Red Crescent Week, the president in his message readout by Habibullah a member of leading board of the Red Crescent, lauded the contribution of the entity in providing humanitarian assistance to needy people including natural disaster affected people in the need of hour.
Speaking in the meeting, chairperson of Afghan Red Crescent Society, Fatima Gilani said that the number of natural disaster affected people and victims of political activities has increased this year, calling upon national and international agencies to increase their assistance to the needy people including the affected people of Kunduz.
Meantime, John Nikolas the international president of Red Crescent assured the body’s continued support to the needy people Afghanistan.
Moreover, Pat Lagoj the country’s director of ICRC in Afghanistan said that presently 72 percent of Afghans are living under poverty line and need humanitarian cooperation.
