Peace Camp Established In Support of Helmand Sit-in

Kabul (BNA) Parwan’s civil society activists have come out in support of the peace sit-in initiated by residents of southern Helmand province.
Amid sit-ins in Helmand, residents of Parwan also erected a peace camp and chanted pro-peace slogans.
“We want peace, a key principle of humanity that is dear to Allah.”
They assured full support for the peace movement of Helmand and urged the Taliban to renounce violence and join the reconciliation drive.
Mohammad Sabir Fahim, a civil activist who spoke on behalf of the protestors, called on the Afghan government, armed groups and the US to end the conflict in the country.
“The people are tired of war.”
Another activist, Khalida, said: “This move is in support to the people of Helmand.
We want peace. Our peaceful protests will continue in case the government and Taliban don’t heed our call for peace.”
Mohammad Yousaf, 5, who also sat in the tent along with his mother named Samira, invited the warring parties to join the reconciliation process. “Long buffeted by war, we seek peace.”
A number of participants, including women, called on the international community
