People With Disability Still Facing Hardships

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan has high number of disabled, with the toll in rise current, as war still continues in different parts of the country. The government yet to could provide 2.7 million disabled, estimated 10 year ago. Most of them still working on the street as taxi rent commissioners, vendors, while tens of thousands or them either engaged in begging or remain home jobless. Deputy Minister to Martyrs and Disabled, Jamila Afghan told that her office has not still an exact figure from the country’s disabled people, except a statistic launched before 10 years in the country, finding up to 2.7 million Afghans disabled with different cases. She said the number is highly believed to have risen since war overspread country wide taking victims among the Afghans mostly civilians stranded in the conflicted zones.
“Right now we pay wages for more than 240 thousands disabled people, who receive their cashes directly from the certain banks,” said Afghani who added the ministry had provided a five-year strategy for the country’s disabled. According to her, the ministry was in contact with the 23 administrations, each one obliged to provide 9 types of service, one of them, employment and the other helping them access to the government administrations. “We are working on amendment of law and passed law has only considered war conditions, war said the deputy minister adding they were working on a program to find work for more than 10,000 people with disability. To conclude with, she said ministry was launching a campaign to put an end to disability in the country, although the last and currently, although 40 years of war left noting except victims and destruction and would leave more and more not stopped and replaced with peace and security.
