Freedom Martyrs Make Country’s History: Lawmakers

Tuesday, September 08, 2015
Kabul (BNA) The martyr’s week especially the martyrdom anniversary of the National Hero, Ahmad Shah Massoud is expected to be celebrated in Kabul and other provinces.
A number of experts and law makers believe that only with celebration of martyrs we should not be satisfied, but their activities should be shared with young generation so they learn that the history of their country is full with thousands spics and devotions. Sahib Nazar Muradi a political analyst said, “The war of Afghans against the former USSR Red Army was led by Afghan brave people specially Ahmad Shah Massoud. He was also martyred by terrorists. The martyrs’ day is marked every year that were killed in the path of the country’s freedom and territorial integrity. It should be the celebration and commemoration of all Afghan martyrs throughout the country, because, over two million people were martyred in the last over three decades.
The freedom fighter of every nation upraises against invaders to defend national honors, independence and territorial integrity and therefore their memories should not forget. Commemoration and celebration of freedom fighters and martyrs is indeed a live history for future generations”. Ahmad Behzad a law maker said, “Celebration of martyrs is a national responsibility of everybody. Almost every family lost at least one member during holly Jihad against invaders. He added, we should actually celebrate the values for which the over two million people were martyred and these values include prosperity, justice, security, independence and national honor. “If we managed to achieve all those values, we can claim that we have fulfilled the right of martyrs.” he added, saying that the martyrs’ families should be supported morally and materially because they devoted their sweet life for us to live in peace, freedom and security. Martyrs celebration should not be symbolic but the martyrs’ children and relatives should be supported in long term. Jawed Kohistani a political expert said, “Afghanistan national and historical values are irrigated with the blood of our martyrs. Those nations and people, who have not given blood and martyrs, have not achieved independence and prosperity.”
Unfortunately celebration of martyrs has been fading in recent years. While it’s our obligation to commemorate and celebrate all those unknown soldiers who were martyred for our independence and  defended this territory against all invaders in the course of the history and should not restrict celebration of martyrs day only to Afghan mujahedin who fought against Russians regardless of their ethnic, political and treble affiliations. A number of countrymen commenting on the martyrs’ week said that all those who were killed during the last three decades conflicts, should be supported. Nahida a lady who has lost her two sons during the last conflicts said “government celebrate only famous martyrs and never celebrate poor martyrs. I expect the government to support me, as so far I have received no support” she added. Marzya a lady who lost her husband during the Taliban rule said, “17 years ago I became widow and I have to support my two young daughters and one son. My husband was an offer and was killed by Taliban insurgents.” She said, saying that no one has supported her yet, as she is involved in tailoring and supporting her children. “The government should support the martyrs’ families” she said.
