ARCS Offers Unbiased Humanitarian Assistance

Tuesday October 18, 2016

Kabul (BNA) Marking the Red Crescent Week in fact is celebration from a day that new page has been opened in the history of humanitarian assistance and fortunate cooperation in the world.
In fact, Red Crescent is a charitable and impartial foundation that principally in behave with humanitarian issues, placed humanism as its criterion. In the first decade of fourteenth century, the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) established in the name of orphan asylum in a time that Afghanistan was emancipated from civil wars and foreign offensives. This foundation that its main and basic task from very days to date was rendering assistance to those who are suffering from earthquake, feedings, natural and un-natural incidents, the heirs of martyrs and poor people. Then, in the course of its growth and progress in 1929, due to a historical meeting held in Pul-i-Baghe Omumi, Kabul and attended by a number of influential figures belong to all tribes residing in Afghanistan, this institution was nominated as the First Aid Center.
In Hague conference held in 1951, the present Red Crescent has been established by the government of Afghanistan, in the framework of seven-article platform that its seven articles were include of humanism, impartiality, self-determination, being united, globalism and performing of self-services that every article had detailed commentary. In 1954, this institution got membership of Red Crescent Movement and World Red Cross, then after passing one year, this institution recognized as member of federation of all charity institutions of the world. The Red Crescent plays important role in cooperation and rendering assistance to the suffering people of the country. As a war-ravaged country, Afghanistan that is grappling with violence, its citizens are facing with much problems. In a number of insecure areas, the Afghans have no access to services rendering by government and it is ARCS and World Red Cross committee that help people and cooperate them in solution of their problems.
The ARCS renders humanitarian assistance to a number of regions are facing with danger as well. In most cases, with kidnapping of employees of charity institutions, terrorists create some hurdles before their activities or disturb the ground of their activities. The people of Afghanistan play important role in paving the way for continuation of activities of ARCS. Now, part of expenditure of activities of this free and independent institution is maintained through selling of lottery tickets and humanitarian assistance of other international institutions such as World Red Cross and the UN. But, these assistance are not sufficient. It was demanded time and again from citizens, merchants, investors and rich people of the society to enforce this charity institution through their humanitarian assistance. If capital holders, national traders, the owners of great economic companies assist ARCS and increase its operation, no doubt, a great part of social pains would appease. Now Mizan 24th is nominated as the beginning day of Red Crescent Special Week and due to respecting this week, we regard necessary the role of this institution in rendering humanitarian assistance to needy people and hope, the same to play its active role in dispatching and distribution of aids to deserving people.
