Kabul (BNA) Ensuring security and lasting peace is the Afghan people old desire, as after four decades of war, they want to now live under peace and tranquility shadow.
A number of political experts asked the government to ensure security throughout the country, stressing that the government should have specific plans on fighting terrorism.
A political expert, Ali Rahmani believes that ensuring security is everybody’s desire and the government must do anything possible in this respect. He also added that as the government has already signed peace accord with Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, it should also pave the way for other insurgents to give up war and join peace process. The related organizations, particularly the government of Afghanistan are responsible to ensure security of any citizens. But unfortunately, as we see, war is going on in some provinces of the country that caused many families to leave their homes and settle in other provinces, he further said. However, the people are now optimistic on an agreement signed between the government and HIA, but they ask other insurgent groups to successively stop war and join peace process—a move if done, can be a great achievement to the government of Afghanistan.
A political analyst, Aminzoy said, ‘peace process plays significant role in ensuring security, therefore, the government should further work on it so the people live in a peaceful environment.’ He believes that if the people live under the peace shadow, all of their needs from any points of view will be fulfilled. Thus, the government, parliamentarians and even the people are responsible before the country, he further said, adding ensuring peace is not only up to the government but also all people should cooperate in this respect and don’t let the country change to a safe haven to terrorists. The people will welcome restoring peace through any possible way, as signing peace accord with HIA can encourage other armed insurgents to stop war and join peace process so the people peacefully continue their life. A high school graduate, Wahida said, ‘there is no doubt that the people of Afghanistan are in dire need of peace and they support the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process, as well as, we ask the government to do its best in ensuring security.’ A university student, Milad said, ‘we are sick of war and we don’t want our innocent people to be victimized any longer, therefore, those who want to have share in the government, should honestly stop war and join peace process.’ This is while that three weeks ago, the government of Afghanistan signed a peace accord with HIA led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and0 the party’s leader was expected to come to Kabul after two weeks, but it is not still clear when he will come.
