Afghan Women, Girls Still Victims of Inequalities

Saturday, May 28, 2016

Kabul (BNA) Gender discrimination is the common evil rights violation that has many types, including sexual harassment, unequal pay for women who do the same jobs as men, etc. in in the course of history, Afghan women and girls have always been victimized of social, economy, education and political discriminations and were deprived of their rights.
However, there have been much efforts made to safeguard the women right in the country, but unfortunately, still discrimination against women and girls has not been uprooted considerably. It is really unfortunate to mention that discrimination against women is not just related to the violation of right rather it has now turned into merciless violence against them. For instance, if the efforts in this regard are fruitful in a province and the women partnership is noticeably increased in different arenas, in then other provinces of the country, the women will be abused and mistreated.
Another example, if the girls are attending the schools in a province, in other provinces of the country acids will be thrown at their faces, and the girls’ schools will be shut. Unfortunately, still the Afghan women and girls couldn’t successfully pass through gender discrimination and inequalities throughout the country. Allah the almighty illustrated in many verses of holly Quran that he created bout sexes from one single source. There is no different between the two sexes in terms of qualifications in humanity, and each complements the other as two genders of the species. Islam has abolished and abrogated all the previous unjust laws that demoted women as inferior in quality and nature. Both males and females have similar rewards for obedience and penalties foe disobedience in this world and the hereafter. As stated by Allah in the holly Quran, ‘whoever does righteous acts, whether male or female, while he/she is a believer, verily, we will give them a good life, and we shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do. Women have the same moral obligations and are entitled to the same general rights as in guarding chastity, integrity and personal honor and respect, etc. No doubt, standards are allowed. For instance, those who falsely accuse an innocent woman of adultery or fornication are publicly punished, just as it a man is slandered. Allah the most compassionated and the most merciful says in holy Quran, ‘And those who accuse chaste women, and produce not four witnesses, flog them with eighty lashes, and reject their testimony forever. Indeed, they are those who are disobedient to Allah, likewise, constitutionally, any kinds of discriminations among the citizens (both men and women) is rejected and prohibited in Afghanistan. Based on article 44 of constitution, the government has been definitely obliged to support the women. In most articles of the constitution and other enforced laws of the land, but women and men own equal rights. But, unfortunately, the orders of the holy religion of Islam and constitution are taken unseen and still the women are victims of inequalities in Afghanistan.
