Pakistan Vows To Support Afghan Peace Process

Tuesday, April 19, 2016

Kabul (BNA) The authorities in foreign ministry of Pakistan saying this country supports the process of peace negotiations of Afghanistan and is sincerely cooperative in the process and should not be dubious on intention of Pakistan.
The spokesman of foreign ministry of Pakistan, Nafees Zekria in a briefing held in Islamabad said, “Pakistan supports peace process of Afghanistan and cooperates the process sincerely, he added: It is not correct in connection with peace process of Afghanistan, the intention of Pakistan comes under question, and no one should be dubious in the connection regarding the intention of Pakistan. Pakistan continues its sincere cooperation for maintaining durable peace in Afghanistan and for this reason, so far, Pakistan is supporting from peace process led by Afghans themselves and believes political negotiations is the best alternative for access to peace in Afghanistan.
Likewise, the spokesman of foreign ministry of Pakistan commemorating about the recent visit of the US special envoy for Afghanistan from his country and added that in a meeting held between Richard Olson and Pakistan authorities, it was decided the date for holding next quadrilateral meeting on Afghanistan should be fixed as soon as possible.
At the same time, the government of Afghanistan says based on the commitment of Islamabad, it is planned Taliban to attend in next quadrilateral meeting. Deputy spokesman of presidential office of Afghanistan, Dawa Khan Minapal told media that despite Pakistan was committing to prepare Afghan Taliban to negotiate with the government of Afghanistan but so far, this commitment didn’t implement by Pakistan. Deputy spokesman of presidential office laid emphasize that in fourth round of quadrilateral meeting, it was decided that Pakistan would draw-out Taliban in fifth round of quadrilateral meeting. “But unfortunately, so far, Pakistan didn’t perform its commitment before Afghanistan and coordinating group of quadrilateral meeting. So, we are carefully optimist and hope, this time like before, Pakistan not to refrain from its commitments.”
According to the deputy spokesman of presidential office if Pakistan doesn’t draw-out Taliban in next round of quadrilateral meeting for negotiation, it is possible the trust that had been made on Pakistan would face with challenge. According to Minapal, so far, the time for holding of next quadrilateral meeting has been fixed, but it would be hosted by Pakistan. Previously, in fourth quadrilateral meeting that was attended by representatives of Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and the US and was held in Kabul on peace in Afghanistan, Pakistan had pledged that in March of current year, this country to prepare Taliban for peace negotiations, but so far, this commitment of Pakistan was not implemented. While the MPs and witnesses in political affairs welcoming the assertions of Pakistan based on support from peace negotiations of Afghanistan, laying emphasize, these assertions are acceptable for the people of Afghanistan in  a time that Pakistan to prove its honesty and prepare Taliban to face to face negotiation with government of Afghanistan. MP, Dr. Qayoum says: so far, there are some suspicions about the intention of Taliban for peace negotiations. But, I think face to face negotiations between Taliban and government of Afghanistan can be a good development for Afghanistan and also enumerated as an official start for peace negotiations. Sajadi lays emphasize that continuation of war in the country shows that Taliban and other government armed opponents think about military strategy for reaching to their wishes, but adds: war is not a final solution for reaching to the goals of all involved sides. A political witness, Ali Rahmani says: till the involved sides in Afghanistan crisis show no tendency to understanding and peace negotiations, any effort would not reach to a result. He believes: if negotiation and meeting be hosted by government of Afghanistan and political parties of this country, no doubt, it would bring positive result. Because, Afghans themselves know that through national unity, they can succeed over all challenges and problems.
But the people of Afghanistan are optimist about the role of neighboring countries in this process and believe if the neighboring countries especially Pakistan and regional countries to cooperate Afghanistan honestly in the connection, no doubt, Afghanistan would reach to a durable peace. A lecturer in one of private universities, Ismael says: what is a matter of concern for the people of Afghanistan is lack of honest commitment before our country. Because, the neighboring countries especially Pakistan had never honest cooperation with Afghanistan for maintaining peace and stability and supported and enforced insurgents for destruction and funning insecurity  in Afghanistan. This causes the peaceful efforts of the people of Afghanistan to have no positive respond. He says: our people regard Pakistan from among those countries that always had committed Afghanistan for its cooperation but in practice, it was not so and within recent ten years, this country had dual policy before Afghanistan and now majority of terrorist attacks in Afghanistan are organized by intelligence services of Pakistan. Previously too, in fourth round of quadrilateral meeting that was held with participation of representatives of Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and the US in Kabul around peace of Afghanistan, Pakistan had committed in March of current year, to prepare Taliban for peace negotiations, but so far, this commitment of Pakistan didn’t implemented.
