Stop Using Coal: People Asked

Kabul (BNA) The National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) asked the people countrywide to not use coal during winter or at least reduce in its consumption, Bakhtar News Agency reported the other day. A joint meeting which co- hosted by the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) and the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) was held here in Kabul providing information about the harms of air pollution and asking them to stop or at least reduce the use of coal during winter , said the agency.
The awareness program by the agency was held simultaneously with the early arrival of cold winter, this year, according to the agency. Deputy to the NEPA Ezatullah Seddiqi spoke on the is- sue and said air pollution was a global problem, but this year, the program was held with the MoIC, earlier as the problem of air pollution has become more serious this year than last years, according to the agency.
He asked the people to avoid using coal or reduce its use during winter, the agency quoted.
The deputy minister also asked the country’s media to have stronger and effective voices in this respect. Pointing to the environmental cleanliness as a high culture among the citizens, the Deputy Minister of Information and Culture, Abdul Manan Shiway Sharq assured that the Ministry of Information and Culture was ready for providing public awareness programs about the harms of the air pollution as well as ready to conduct a national debate on the issue at the provincial and center level.
“The program is started in Mizan (relatively coinciding October) and will last to Qaus (coinciding December),” said the MoIC deputy on publication affairs. He said the people would be informed about the negative consequences of environment destruction and harms of air pollution through media all over the country.
