Over 2500 Cases of Violence against Women Addressed: Official

Kabul (BNA) In fiscal year 1398, Supreme Court High Council has conducted 79 ordinary and extraordinary sessions, and as a result 954 approval, 495 memo and 280 decisions has been issued, an official said on Monday.
“facilitating the documents of ANDSF martyrs, approving the oversight bill for implementation of final verdicts of courts and approving timetable for enactment of final verdicts of courts on civil, commercial and criminal cases are the key decisions taken by Supreme Court high council in order to consider legitimate demands of the people,” said Jawid Rashedi, Acting Head of Administrative Department of Supreme Court in a press conference at the State Accountability Program to the Nation, held at Government Media and Information Center on Monday. Rashedi said that in fiscal year 1398, a total of 106,045 cases have been dealt, of which 14,572 cases addressed by Supreme Court Dewans, 29,137 cases by Courts of appeal, and another 62,336 cases by Primary Courts in center and provinces.
The cases dealt by primary and appeal courts includes 916 cases related to administrative corruption, 282 cases related to land grabbing, and 2,837 cases are related to violence against women, he added.
On drafting laws; related regulations and bills and law on interpretation of Afghan constitution law is finalized and work is underway to finalize the law on rights and privilege of the judiciary cadres and new draft of civil procedure code, he went on to say.
He also added that in order to attract the applicants for 31st round of judicial stage, a total of 9,520 male and female graduates of Sharia and law faculties and religious madrassas have registered online, and their exam is taken by National Examination Office.
“Of which 600 people with highest scores were shortlisted. Necessary preparations are taken for their interview process which is scheduled to be completed by the end of Hoot (March) month.”
In the fight against corruption, the judicial oversight office has arrested 65 people including two judges, three administrative staff and clerks: two advocates others under the name of commissioners.
Their cases are under different stages of judicial procedures, according to him. 12 versions of Qaza Magazine which included legal and judicial issues, along with 36 versions of Mizan Gazette covering judiciary activities and 12 English bulletins about reforms and fight against corruption were published. Judicial education program are regularly conducted and according to the plan, 24 TV programs and 48 Radio programs were released in FY 1398, Rashedi concluded as saying.
